Trey Lance Is Currently Out For The Year.

Trey Lance, the quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, will not return this season due to an ankle injury, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

The 49ers' starting quarterback Trey Lance will miss the rest of the season after suffering an ankle fracture in their 27-7 victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

With 2:33 still in the first quarter, the injury occurred.

After a two-yard rush, Lance stumbled as he sprinted to the right guard gap. He was taken off the field in a trolley.

It's a hard blow for the 22-year-old, who was highly anticipated going into the 2022–23 season.

The Niners will instead look to veteran Jimmy Garoppolo to handle things at quarterback for the rest of the season as he will have surgery on Monday.

Jimmy Garoppolo, the current backup quarterback who recently agreed to a restructured contract,

entered the game and very convincingly guided the club, completing 13 of 21 throws for 154 yards and a touchdown.
