The season is over for the star college football quarterback.

With its star quarterback now officially out for the season, the No. 15 team in the country is facing some serious hardship.

Devin Leary's injured pec will require surgery, NC State said ahead of Saturday's game against 18th-ranked Syracuse.

Devin Leary, the NC State quarterback, will have surgery and miss the rest of the 2022 campaign.

He is anticipated to heal fully and there is no injury to his shoulder. In Gulf Breeze, Florida, Dr. James Andrews will perform surgery the next week.

The injury was sustained by Leary, the ACC preseason player of the year, during last week's 19-17 victory over Florida State.

After absorbing a hard hit from a Seminoles defensive lineman that resulted in a roughing the passer flag, the fifth-year senior was forced to sit out the second half.

At this point, Jack Chambers will start at quarterback for NC State.

Leary had passed for 1,265 yards and 11 touchdowns to four interceptions up to this point in the season.
