Brian Kelly breaks the record for the largest donation by giving $1 million to the LSU coach.

Head coach Brian Kelly is contributing financially to LSU's effort to upgrade its athletic facilities.

Kelly is donating $1 million to the Tiger Athletic Foundation for the construction of a new training facility and rehabilitation suite, the school said on Friday.

The Kelly grant is the largest made by an active head coach at LSU in school history.

Athletes from all 21 varsity program  will have access to the new training facility and recuperation suite, which the LSU Board of Supervisors has not yet approved.

In a statement he issued regarding his plans, Kelly stated that he wanted to ensure the greatest possible care for the athletes at LSU.

Kelly made the following comment in his statement: "Investing in the health and well-being of student-athletes is among the most significant commitments a coach can make.

My family and I are honored and privileged to contribute to the development of our athletic training center and recovery suite.

On the field, Kelly and the Tigers are getting ready for Saturday's visit from the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers. ESPN will broadcast that game beginning at noon ET.
